About
Dissolve is an art collective and curatorial project where art-making and looking are personal, performative, entangled, and unexpected.
From 2016-18, Dissolve produced a self-published digital arts publication, working with a collective of writers, curators, artists, and art thinkers. Although initially based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dissolve acknowledges that our communities shift conceptually and geographically. Over time, Dissolve began to engage both local and internationally-based contributors, producing work that is not only sourced from various geopolitical locales but often multilingual. Today, Dissolve is a project by Kathryn Barulich, Christopher Squier, and Jackie Valle.
We seek to engage the work of art writers, cultural producers, and artists who are passionate about the unseen and the unknown. Dissolve’s community attends to the ruptures and fissures in culture, where art flourishes.
