¡Ojo! An Update from Dissolve
/Dissolve is always in the process of transformation, of becoming — and at the moment, that means Dissolve is reimagining our horizon. As an art collective and curatorial project, we will continue to produce collaborative programs and publications that center art-making and looking as personal, performative, and entangled. In that spirit, we are thrilled to announce an updated website, a restored Bureau of Longitudes, and the first of our new programs, the Dissolve Salon.
Visit our “Past issues” for a look at our published archives from 2016-18 as well as the restored Bureau of Longitudes. The volume includes six pieces in the form of essays, poetry, and projects by Jyoti Arvey, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Maio Alvear, Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai, Juan Pablo Pacheco, and Amanda Walters. We also invite your eyes to turn toward Kathryn Barulich’s “The Fishwives March!” The essay speaks to an unruly congregation of women driving political change in 18th-century France. Our “Happenings” page will keep you abreast of Dissolve updates and forthcoming programs.
Dissolve Salon
Dedicated to contemporary art, visual culture, and experimental creative practices, the Salon includes a tailored suite of offerings for creatives, makers, and arts/mission-aligned institutions. Our “Wunderkammer of Services” are described here. We encourage projects which: (a) take on unconventional content/form; (b) blur institutions and their disciplinary modes of production, agendas, and philosophies; and/or (c) move along tangents and across disparate points of departure/arrival. If you are interested in working with us, please schedule a conversation through our contact form.
Among our services, we especially look forward to working alongside artists and their collectors by producing visual studies workshops. As in a studio visit or tutorial, we will read and decode images and, together, engage in conversation around the work of art, poetics in visual culture, and the power of images to inform and dissolve our worldviews.
Similarly, we are also excited to introduce contemporary archives management services, which provide a varied array of collections management, digitization, and preservation assistance for studios, collections, and artists’ estates.
Until Soon
For now, we are based between the San Francisco Bay, San Diego, and New York City — and are also virtually located anywhere.
We would love to learn about your recent projects, writings, and comings/goings. Please also look out for additional announcements here, within Happenings, and sign up for our emails by writing to us through our contact form.
We are grateful for your friendship, creative artistry, and contributions.
